Police Arrest Three Suspects in Killing of Taguig Officer and Her Son
Quezon City, Philippines — January 31, 2026.
Authorities have arrested three suspects believed to be responsible for the killing of Police Senior Master Sergeant (PSMS) Diane Marie Gabres Mollenido, 38, and her 8-year-old son, John Ysmael Gabres Mollenido, whose bodies were discovered in Bulacan and Tarlac after being reported missing earlier this month.
The Arrest
At around 8:00 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. on January 30, operatives from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) apprehended Gil Valdemoro Dy Jr., 41, Pia Katrina Chua Panganiban, 29, and Christian Suarez Panganiban, 44, in coordinated operations at residences in Novaliches and San Bartolome, Quezon City. All suspects are now under police custody.
The arrests were carried out by combined teams from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) led by PLTCOL EDISON B OUANO, the District Investigation Division (DID) led by PLTCOL ROSEL I CEJAS, QCPD-SWAT led by PMAJ BONI DULAG, and Police Station 4 led by PLTCOL MICHAEL JOHN VILLANUEVA, all under the able and ever supoortive QCPD Acting Diatrict Director PCOL RANDY GLEN G SILVIO.
The Case
Investigations revealed that on January 16, PSMS Mollenido and her son left their home in Taguig City aboard a Toyota Innova (plate number NAK 2796) to sell the vehicle. They were last seen alive at the Novaliches residence of Pia Katrina and Christian Panganiban.
On January 19, the victims’ disappearance was reported by PMSg John Ledesma Mollenido, husband and father of the victims, at the Taguig City Police Station.
Investigators later confirmed that the vehicle had been sold to a buy-and-sell agent for ₱450,000.
Tragically, on January 24, PSMS Mollenido’s body was found along Pulilan Bypass Road in Bulacan, wrapped in a garbage bag with a gunshot wound to the head. Five days later, on January 29, the remains of her son were discovered in a calamansi farm in Victoria, Tarlac.
Evidence and Ongoing Investigation
Recovered from the suspects during the arrest were identification cards, mobile phones, and ₱100,000 in cash. Police had earlier recovered the mobile phones of the victims. Authorities are continuing operations in Bulacan and Pampanga to locate the firearm used in the crime. A silver Toyota Fortuner allegedly used to transport and conceal the victims’ bodies is undergoing forensic examination in Angeles, Pampanga.
Official Statement
QCPD confirmed that sufficient evidence links Dy and the Panganiban couple to the disappearance and killing of the victims. The suspects were informed of their constitutional rights and are now facing charges as investigations continue.Police Arrest Three Suspects in Killing of Taguig Officer and Her Son Quezon City, Philippines — January 31, 2026. PNP WARNS POLICE PERSONNEL
PULL THE TRIGGER, LOSE THE BADGE
As part of the heightened security measures for the holiday season and the approach of New Year 2026, the Philippine National Police is strictly enforcing a One-Strike Policy against indiscriminate firing. This policy underscores the PNP’s firm commitment to protecting lives and ensuring public safety during a period meant for peace, not preventable harm.
All PNP personnel are reminded to observe the highest level of discipline and professionalism in the handling of firearms. Any act of reckless or celebratory gunfire is a serious violation of duty and will not be tolerated under any circumstance.
Personnel found guilty of indiscriminate firing shall face immediate administrative sanctions and criminal liability in accordance with existing laws, without warning or second chances. This includes dismissal from the service and the filing of appropriate criminal cases, as warranted.
Immediate and decisive action is required from all unit commanders. Personnel involved in indiscriminate firing will be relieved and placed under preventive suspension at once, pending investigation. Command responsibility is absolute—every level must be accountable to uphold discipline and safeguard public trust in the PNP.
As the nation welcomes the New Year, the PNP calls on all personnel to set the example of responsibility and restraint. Through the strict enforcement of the One-Strike Policy, the PNP reaffirms its commitment to a Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas—Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman—so that every Filipino can celebrate safely and without fear.
